Jeuveau is a treatment that makes it easy to tame your wrinkles and rejuvenate the youthful beauty of your face. Wrinkles are a telltale sign of aging. Not only are wrinkles easily noticeable, they are difficult to prevent. They form naturally due to repeated facial muscle movements over the years.

What Is Jeuveau® for Wrinkles?

Jeuveau® is an FDA-approved cosmetic injection used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. Jeuveau® is also commonly used to treat moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that occur during facial expressions) on the forehead and around the outer eye area (aka crow’s feet). The injection works by blocking the nerve signals to the muscles in the problem areas. This results in a decrease in wrinkles in those areas because the muscles are no longer contracting or they are contracting much less.

Who Benefits From Jeuveau®?

Clients that most often benefit from this non-surgical procedure are males or females with transverse/horizontal wrinkles of the forehead, wrinkles between the eyebrows, and/or wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet). In clients that are prone to forming wrinkles from facial expressions, Jeuveau® can also be used as a preventative measure.

Jeuveau® Procedure for Wrinkles

Clients should wear minimal make-up when coming in for facial Jeuveau® injections. The injections will be performed in the areas that need treatment and that are agreed upon, and will be performed by a certified, injection specialist. The in-office procedure will take about 15 minutes.

How Does Jeuveau® Work?

Jeuveau® works by specifically addressing the underlying cause of dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are those that come about when you smile, frown, squint, get angry or look confused. Each of these facial expressions requires your facial muscles to move and contract, which can cause the skin utilized for those expressions to form wrinkles and fine lines. Over time, these wrinkles become a permanent fixture of your appearance.

Jeuveau’s® formula contains a purified form of a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin type A. This neurotoxin blocks nerve signals to the muscles, preventing stiff facial muscles from being able to contract. This helps to soften the appearance of existing wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles. It also helps prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Post-Treatment Care Jeuveau® Treatment

After the injections, some redness and swelling can occur to the treated area. This goes away quickly. Some bleeding can occur but this is usually very mild. If bruising occurs, it will resolve in a couple of weeks.

Strenuous activity should be avoided for the remainder of the day that your injections are performed. You can return to work the same day and can return to full activity the following day.

Jeuveau® is considered a preventative treatment for facial wrinkles. Results can last about three months. Jeuveau® injections will need to be repeated when the effect is starting to wear off.

Potential Complications from Jeuveau® Treatment

Jeuveau® injection is a very low risk procedure. Potential complications can include, as mentioned above, a small amount of redness and swelling. You can also develop some bruising. Temporary muscle weakness can also occur. Other rare complications will be discussed with you during your consultation.

On occasion, under-correction of the deformity may occur. It will take about three to five days for Jeuveau® to start working. For new clients who are being injected for the first time, our injection specialist will always be a little more conservative with the initial injections in order to decrease the risk of over-injection problems.

If five days or so have gone by and the desired results are not adequate, we will ask you to return to our office, and a few more units of Jeuveau® can be added to those areas to achieve the desired effect. Once a relationship is established with our aesthetic specialist, we will learn what your body needs to achieve the desired effect.

It is always safer to start with lower dosing and increase the dosing as needed. Jeuveau® can always be added but once it is injected there is no way to reverse it other than waiting. The results of Jeuveau® typically will last about three months. With that being said, if complications such as facial muscle weakness occur this will resolve in about three months.
